"Lord of the Rings" 25th Anniversary Marathon

Thursday, April 30 – Sunday, May 3, 2026

J.R.R. Tolkien's classic will be at the Bengal Theater once again for the 25th Anniversary of the "Lord of the Rings," with the newly remastered versions of both the original and extended editions being featured.;"Fellowship of the Ring" plays at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday & Friday, April 30 & May 1.;Then the "Two Towers" plays at 2:00 & 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. ;And "Return of the King" plays at 2:00 & 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.;The early shows will be the original release, while the later shows will be the extended editions.  All three films were nominated for Best Picture Oscars for their 2001-2003 releases, with 2003's "Return of the King" becoming  the Best Picture winner and the most decorated movie in Oscar History, winning in all 11 categories it was nominated for.  The story tells of Middle Earth, and the smallest of people, the Hobbits, who are drawn into a clash between good and evil as the world of humans, elves and dwarves face the dark forces of Sauron. ;The 2:00 p.m. shows (and Thursday 6 p.m.) will be the original theatrical versions with subtitles, while the 6:00 p.m. shows Friday - Sunday will be the extended edition of the movies without subtitles.
