Best Picture, Actor, and Foreign Film Nominee at the Academy Awards plays Sunday, April 26, at 4 & 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater.;It's 1977 Brazil and Marcelo, a technology expert in his early 40s caught in the political turmoil as a result of the Brazilian military dictatorship, is on the run. Hoping to reunite with his son, he travels to Recife during Carnival but soon realizes that the city is not the safe haven he was expecting. FilmWeek calls it "A top-notch political thriller. It's layered, absorbing, and also has a lot of humanity amidst the twists and turns," while NPR adds, it's "A rousing, suspenseful, occasionally hilarious, and ultimately unnerving tale of battling political oppression."
